Tutor Marketing Tips: Advice for Expanding Your Tutoring Business – Part 3

Be sure to tweet every day. You will get noticed and customers will appreciate the fact that you’re plugged-in to the internet in a fun and meaningful way. Your tweets should be witty (or, as I like to say, “punchy”) and concise. Use caps sparingly, as most of the alphabet-using world does really find them obnoxious. Also, be sure to end tweets in hash tags. A hash tag is a way for people to search for tweets that have a common topic. For example, if you search #Travel you’ll get a list of tweets pertinent to travel. So, at the end of your tweet, be sure to place a # followed by the subject of whatever it is you want to say, like this:

Tutoring Match will release a new XYZ product today. #tutors”

As for your Twitter page, I recommend engaging in a little customization. This can be done a variety of ways. Some folks are fine with using Twitter’s pre-made backgrounds. But if you or a friend knows a little Photoshop or a comparable program, I highly recommend creating your own background that touts not only the fact that you’re a tutor, but what you teach, as well. There are numerous resources on the internet that explain how to create wallpaper, so I won’t get into that here. But do think of it as a free marketing tool. The background pushes you and what your tutoring business has to offer. Make it shine!

Finally, hook up your Twitter account to your Facebook profile and Facebook fanpage (see last week’s Buzz), and you’re good to go. Happy tweeting, everyone, and have a good weekend!
